Volotea pilots cut fuel use enough to save the airline over €1.6 million a year

Spanish carrier Volotea has saved €1.65 million a year in fuel costs — equivalent to roughly 4,000 tonnes of avoided CO2 emissions — after rolling out StorkJet's FlyGuide flight path optimisation tool across its 45-aircraft Airbus fleet. More than 89% of Volotea's pilots have adopted the tool, which gives fuel and altitude recommendations across every phase of flight. The airline, which flies around 430 routes through 110 airports, says it has cut direct CO2 emissions per passenger-kilometre by 51% since 2012.
