VINCI Airports has unveiled a £500 million, five-year investment plan for Edinburgh Airport, the largest in the airport's history and described as the first phase of a broader project. The plans would increase the terminal footprint by 60%, adding new gates, additional aircraft stands, an expanded check-in hall and departure lounge, enhanced retail, food and beverage areas, and upgraded international arrivals facilities. The investment comes from VINCI, which took over operation of the airport in 2024, and co-shareholder Global Infrastructure Partners. Edinburgh, Scotland's busiest airport, handled nearly 17 million passengers in 2025, up 7.5% on the previous year. The operator says the expansion is intended to enable new routes to Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia, strengthening Scotland's connectivity. It also plans to integrate low-carbon solutions and reduce the airport's carbon footprint as part of the work.

The programme, the largest investment in Edinburgh Airport's history, would grow the terminal footprint by 60% with new gates, stands and a bigger check-in hall. It is described as only the first phase of a broader project.
