Ontario's air ambulance operator Ornge goes paperless on aircraft maintenance sign-offs

Ornge, the organisation that provides Ontario's air ambulance and critical-care transport service, has implemented Ramco Systems' Digital Task Card with electronic sign-off and its Mechanic Anywhere mobile app across every one of its maintenance bases, ending paper-based sign-offs for its AW-139 helicopter and PC-12 fixed-wing fleets. The digital sign-off process is built to meet Transport Canada's compliance requirements, letting technicians confirm completed maintenance tasks in real time rather than filling out paper task cards later, and the system generates Work Summary Reports to support audits and regulatory checks. Ornge's technical services manager, Robert Zwanenburg, said the change helps the organisation keep maintenance turnaround times on schedule while giving frontline technicians the tools they need at the aircraft. Ramco's chief customer officer described the move as part of a broader shift toward mobile-first, paperless maintenance operations across aviation more generally. Ramco's aviation software is used by more than 24,000 people managing over 4,000 aircraft across more than 90 airlines, MROs, helicopter operators and defence organisations worldwide, of which Ornge is now one.
