Judge Clears Spirit's $668 Million Sale of Its Last 27 Aircraft

AirlineGeeks
A US bankruptcy court judge has approved the sale of Spirit Airlines' remaining 27 Airbus A320-family aircraft for about $668 million. Twenty-three of the jets go to an entity controlled by Spirit's bondholders and four to an affiliate of FTAI Aviation, which is active in engine repair and aircraft leasing. The aircraft were described as the most valuable property still on the airline's books. Spirit ceased operations in May 2026 and is now liquidating its remaining assets with roughly 100 employees, a process that also covers equipment, airport gates and real estate. Its former headquarters in Dania Beach, Florida, sold for $93 million in August.
