Boeing delivered 475 commercial aircraft in the first nine months of 2026, up 8% from a year earlier, according to figures released on 13 October. Airbus delivered 547 over the same period, also up about 8%. Boeing handed over 600 aircraft in 2025 and needs another 126 in the fourth quarter to pass that total, after delivering 161 in the third quarter against 160 a year earlier. The 737 family accounted for most of the improvement, with 367 deliveries versus 330, while 787 deliveries were nearly flat at 62 and 777 deliveries fell to 20 from 29. The 767 line delivered 26, up from 20. September deliveries were 57, compared with 51 in August and 55 a year earlier. Boeing booked 165 orders in September, including 100 737 MAX jets for Turkish Airlines and 20 for Lufthansa, plus orders from Biman Bangladesh and Ethiopian Airlines. Airbus recorded 1,174 gross orders through September, or 1,105 net, while Boeing had 618 net. Boeing's backlog stood at 6,371 aircraft, up from 6,156 a month earlier. The company says the figures are preliminary until third-quarter results on 27 October, and its chief executive said in September that reaching a steady 47 737s a month had taken longer than expected.
Boeing's deliveries through September rose 8% on the year, driven by the 737 family, though Airbus remains ahead with 547. A Turkish Airlines order for 100 737 MAX jets dominated Boeing's September bookings.

The FAA confirmed to Reuters that Boeing paid the maximum $3.1 million civil penalty over widespread production and safety violations back in January, but the payment went undisclosed until the agency revealed it this week. The violations trace to the same 737 MAX 9 door-plug blowout that grounded much of the fleet in January 2024.
